Silica Fume Influence on Behavior of Expansive Soil

نویسندگان

چکیده

In this investigation, silica fume (SF) was used as an additive material to study its influence on the characteristics of expansive soil. The soil in research prepared a lab by mingling bentonite (50 percent dry weight) with natural According (USCS), classified (CH) liquid limit 67.5 and plastic 29.3%. Expansive mixed different percentages (SF), (8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13%), experiments were conducted for treated untreated examine impact Atterberg's limits, compressibility, swelling, shear strength parameters. outcome test shows that use raised limits (L.L, P.L, P.I) lowered compressibility swelling percentage, well parameters (c,φ), altered increasing angle internal friction (φ), decreased cohesion (c). From these results, it is concluded has positive effect enhance geotechnical properties

Influence of Silica Fume on Normal Concrete

The incorporation of silica fume into the normal concrete is a routine one in the present days to produce the tailor made high strength and high performance concrete. The design parameters are increasing with the incorporation of silica fume in conventional concrete and the mix proportioning is becoming complex. The main objective of this paper has been made to investigate the different mechani...

Influence of Silica Fume on Chloride Resistance of Concrete

A series of concrete slabs were cast with 0, 7, and 12% by mass silica fume replacement of cement at W/CM = 0.35, 0.40, and 0.45. After either moist or steam curing, a variety of chloride resistance tests were performed. These included AASHTO T259, modified T259, T277, as well as several bulk diffusion tests and sorptivity tests. Results indicate that the use of properly dispersed silica fume r...

Influence of Nano-Silica and Silica Fume in the Steel Corrosion Embedded in Concrete

Corrosion of steel is one of the most important potential dangers and threats in concrete structures. Corrosion of steel embedded in reinforced concrete plays a key role in reducing the strength and durability of reinforced concrete. Several studies have proposed that alternative approaches to enhancing the performance of reinforced concrete and its resistance to corrosion. In this study, the r...
